Tihu Girls' High School

Tihu Girls' High School- a pioneer institution of women education of Assam is located at Tihu Town under Nalbari District. It was established in 1961 and provincialished in 17-10-1977. Besides Tihu Town, students from fringe villages like Nakhara ,Baniakuchi, 1No.Nathkuchi, 2 No.Nathkuchi, Barbari, Bairagi, Khalihaguri ,Ranakuchi, Bargaon, Nannattari, Piplibari, Parmankhowa, and Mathurapur come to study at Tihu Girls' High School for its good academic atmosphere. Already the school has crossed its glorious 65 years by showing good results in HSLC Examination every year. In 1968 Dr. Gita Goswami (Rtd professor, Cotton University) secured highest mark in Assamese in erstwhile Matric Examination. In 2002, Dr. Kashmiri Deka secured 5th position in HSLC Examination. Angana Bhattacharya and Dhritimani Deka secured the highest mark in Sanskrit in 2003 and 2004 respectively and won Gold Medal from Sri Sri Auniati Satra, Majuli. After that Himashree Kalita and Tripti Bezbaruah secured 100% in Mathematics in HSLC Exam. Mrs. Rekharani Das Boro, Ex Cabinet Minister, Govt. of Assam and Dr. Malaya Barman, Ex MLA are the notable alumini of the school. Moreover, different brightened students are serving in various fields in different parts of India and abroad. At present ,390 students are studying at Tihu Girls' High School. But the infrastructure of the school is very poor. One building having four classrooms is dilapidated for which the school authority has to face a big problem to maintain the regular classes.
